The Always Awesome Book Jar

For today's post I am stealing an awesome idea from Alex who writes Meet Me in the Library. It's a great blog where she does book reviews and talks about all kinds of "bookish adventures." I definitely recommend checking it out sometime.

 The Always Awesome Book Jar

Basically, a book jar has a simple concept, but a great result. All you need to do is find a jar. It can be a fancy jar, a really simple jar, small, large, whatever. The jar I chose, I got for Christmas one year from a friend and it was filled with candy. Now, it's filled with dust so why not put it to better use?

Then, you will need to find some colorful paper that you can cut up to make slips, which you can eventually fold and place into the jar. Super easy, right?

So, what's the point of this you ask? When you are struggling to pick out your next book, use the book jar! On all those slips of paper you just cut up, write different books you would like to read, but just haven't gotten to yet or even books you have tried to read, but never finished. Each color of paper can represent a different kind of book or it can be totally random. Whichever you like the best. I personally chose to go with the totally random aspect whereas Alex chose to make it color coordinated. I recommend using the always awesome book jar at least twice a month. This will keep you reading and give some excitement to "picking" a new book.

I also decided that it would be super cute to make a little book jar for Bella! We have so many books to choose from every night and I feel like I just keep re-reading things. I have the perfect little jar that I got not too long ago. It's full of push pins, so I'll have to find a place for them, but that can easily be done.

Of course I have to show off my cute little helper :)

Now, when you're finished with your current book and you aren't sure what you would like to read next, go to your always awesome book jar. It will solve all your problems.
