What's New Wednesday: The Book of Speculation by Erika Swyler

The Book of Speculation by Erika Swyler is a fantasy fiction focused around Simon Watson who lived in the circus world with his family. His mother, a circus mermaid with inhuman like swimming abilities, intentionally drowned herself when Simon was only seven. This left him and his sister Enola to fend for themselves. Several years later, Simon lost his position as a librarian and is living in his run down home just up the hill from the water in which his mother's demise took place and Enola is following the family career and reads tarot cards. In June, a mysterious book appears on Simon's doorstep, sent by an antiquarian bookseller. The book explains the weird occurrences of women in Simon's family drowning on July 24th. His thoughts immediately lead to Enola. Is his family cursed? Will he be able to save Enola from a possible drowning? I guess we will just have to read the book to find out!

I think I've mentioned before that I'm not huge on the fantasy genre necessarily, but on the other hand, I do get cravings for it every once in a while. I'm definitely going to have to check this book out. The Book of Speculation is being released on June 23rd and can be purchased at Barnes and Noble for $17.52 in hardcover.

Will you be reading this book in the near future? Let me know in the comments below!
