Paper Towns by John Green “Been Bookin’?” Book Review

Paper Towns was written by the New York Times Best Selling Author, John Green. Green has written several books including Looking for Alaska, An Abundance of Katherine’s,The Fault in Our Stars, and cowriter of Will Grayson, Will Grayson. In 2006 he was the recipient of the Michael L. Printz Award and the recipient of the EdgarAward in 2009. Green has also been a finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize twice. On top of his writing, his video blog with his brother, Hank, has been one of the most successful Youtube channels in history.

Quentin Jacobsen is your everyday high school senior who just happens to have a crush on the adventurous and brave Margo Roth Spiegelman. Quentin and Margo were best friends from the age of two, that was until they found a dead guy in a local park. They never really stopped being friends, but they definitely did not have the same relationship after that.

One random night Margo breaks into Quentin’s bedroom and “forces” him to go on a heist with her to get back at her supposed friends and cheating boyfriend. Reluctantly, he goes along and finds that it was not so bad after all. Once the sun rises the next day, Margo is missing. Quentin and his friends Ben, Radar, and eventually Lacey who was also Margo’s friend, set out on a mission of finding Margo while also getting ready for high school graduation. Finally, the clues left by Margo lead them to a place where all their questions could be answered.

Although I personally felt as though this book was a little bit slow moving, it was also able to make me feel like it was over in an instant. I couldn’t put it down and I was always hungry for more. My favorite character had to be Margo simply because she was adventurous and not afraid to do what she wanted no matter what the consequences were.

I recommend this book to those who like a realistic adventure and some mystery along with it. You can purchase this book at Barnes and Noble for $9.99. Although this book was not my favorite from John Green, I did find it to be good. I rate this book 3.5 notes :)
