So, this week, I only got a couple new books. One I purchased at the San Francisco Airport in case I finished the first book before the plane took off and the other two I purchased from Target. I purchased The Vacationers by Emma Straub at the airport, Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng, and The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman at Target. (Technically, Frankie bought the last one and my dad bought Everything I Never Told You) Each book is completely different, which makes them all that much better!
The Vacationers by Emma Straub
I wrote about this title last week in my beach reads post and the concept is pretty simple. A family goes on vacation in Mallorca and ends up coming back with an entirely different understanding of one another.
Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng
When the star child of a small Chinese American family is found dead, their whole lives are turned upside down. Chaos ensues and therefore makes for a fantastic page-turner!
The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman
This title has been on my to-read list for quite some time and I have finally got my hands on it. When I saw it on the shelves at Target, I had to have it. When a middle aged man returns home to attend a funeral, he is reunited with a childhood friend. She is living at an old farmhouse with her mother and grandmother and claims that the pond in the back is an ocean. All his childhood memories begin flooding back and things too scary for a small boy to have experienced resurface.
What's new on your "to-read" shelf? Let me know in the comments below!
