With a Twist by Staci Hart is a romantic comedy focused around a group of friends and told in the perspectives of Lily Thomas and Weston Williams. Lily is “a professional dancer in one of the most competitive, talented companies of dancers in the world,” whereas West is an English major at Columbia University and has applied to receive his masters. Both have been friends for years and have never really thought about being anything more. Lily is infatuated with another dancer, Blane Baker, and can’t see past her high school crush, while her friends West, Rose, Cooper, Patrick, Maggie and her sister Astrid see right through him.
West happens to have a girl, Christine, on his side as well. The only difference is that it is exclusively sexual. West was sure she knew this until he was invited to a party and he introduced her to his friends. Lily became extremely jealous for reasons she did not completely understand and once West was at the party, he overheard things that just weren’t right. He broke it off with her then and there.
Now, having had several bad sexual experiences with Blane, Lily was giving him one last chance to prove to her that he was worth it. After accepting an invitation to go to an exclusive party with Lily, Blane is found by West to have been a horrible and unfit guy for Lily. She was worth so much more and West took it upon himself to make sure that both Blane and Lily realized just that.
Emotions flare and the story really takes off from here. There’s love, comedy, sadness, and much more. This is definitely a book worth reading.
I’m not even sure what to say. With a Twist was phenomenal! The relationship between Lily and West is one that everyone dreams of. This book was so incredibly real and full of emotions. Everything that occurred is completely possible and that’s what made it so spectacular. Most love stories are a bit far fetched, but the love story of Lily and West is as real as it gets. I am still spinning and craving more. I can’t wait for what's coming next!
Every character had such personality and I can’t express enough how perfect each and every one was. I saw from the very beginning that Lily and West were meant for each other. The story keeps you hooked and craving more after every page. I must say that this has to be one of my favorite books to date.
The humor in this title was fantastic. There was just enough to make you giggle in the perfect spots. Every emotion written throughout the book was felt within myself, which made the story come to life. This was perfect. If this book does not become a movie, I give up on life!
